There are always a lot of new cars hitting the market every year, making it rather difficult to keep up with them all. It can be rough trying to determine which vehicle might be better than a particular counterpart, which is why articles like this one can prove very useful. In the case of this particular one, we’ll be discussing why the both the Ford Fusion and Chevy Malibu are great vehicles.
As always, the Ford Fusion is still slightly more expensive than many of its competitors, including the Chevy Malibu. Of course, that extra price is due to a consistent level of quality that the Ford Fusion constantly provides. It’s always been near the top of the segment in design, performance, and quality, so the price compared to other vehicles is understandable. However, in the particular case of the Ford Fusion and the Chevy Malibu, the difference in price is rather negligible when considering the potential difference in quality. If you are buying new, you can expect the MSRP to start in the low twenty thousands, however if you are buying pre-owned you shouldn’t have a problem finding either of these vehicles between $10k and $20k.
As far as comfort is concerned, the Ford Fusion and the Chevy Malibu have roughly the same amount of space, but the Ford Fusion does have just a bit more head and legroom to accommodate the taller driver. Gas mileage is also roughly the same, with only minute disparity that fails to truly influence the number of stops you’ll have to make for gas. In that sense, both cars are equally convenient, even in their size. They’re about the same length and width, so they take the same space in your garage or anywhere else.
As far as performance is concerned, the Chevy Malibu doesn’t stack up in torque and drivetrain. The Ford Fusion has a lot more torque at its disposal, making for a more powerful drive compared to its Malibu counterpart. The Ford Fusion also commands more horsepower, truly cementing its performance superiority over the Chevy Malibu. The only aspect of performance in which the two are equal is handling, as they both have a roughly equal turn radius.
Utility is also the same, as they all have the same number of seats and cargo space. Finally, you have their warranty, but these are also approximately identical, so there is no real difference there.
In short, the superiority of the new Ford Fusion over the new Chevy Malibu is obvious. The latter can hold its own fairly well, and in many aspects it is equal to the Ford Fusion. But for only a small increase in price, you can acquire greater power and performance from the Ford Fusion’s superior drivetrain and engine. If you prefer a tighter, more powerful car that is sure to be a more entertaining and exhilarating drive, the Ford Fusion 2017 is simply the better choice, and for only a slight increase in cost. Those facts speak for themselves, and the Chevy Malibu has no actually superior qualities or features to boast: only features of equal capability.
